Self-consumption and surplus compensation
With self-consumption (autoconsumo), you use the energy your panels produce the moment they produce it, which is where the real saving is. On a sunny day in Málaga, that easily covers the daytime appliances, the pool pump or the air conditioning.
Any energy you do not use is fed back to the grid, and under surplus compensation (compensación simplificada) your retailer discounts it from your bill. To store that surplus for the evening instead, you add a storage battery.
