03 — Which charger

Which charger should you choose?

01

7.4 kW or 22 kW

A 7.4 kW single-phase charger fully charges most cars overnight and suits nearly every home. 11 kW or 22 kW three-phase units only make sense with a three-phase supply and a car that accepts that speed.

02

Tethered or socket

A tethered charger has the cable permanently attached, which is more convenient day to day. A socket unit lets you use your own cable and any connector. We help you pick based on your car and parking spot.

03

Smart features

Smart chargers add app control, scheduling for cheap off-peak hours, load balancing so the charger never trips your supply, and solar charging that uses only your panels’ surplus.

04 — Grants the MOVES

Grants: the MOVES III plan

The MOVES III programme, managed in Andalucía by the Junta de Andalucía, subsidises part of the cost of installing a home or community charging point. The percentage covered and the available funding depend on the round (convocatoria) in force at the time, so we check the current terms for you and handle the paperwork from start to finish.

How much does it cost to install an EV charger at home in Spain?

From around €300 in simple cases up to €3,000+ depending on the distance to the consumer unit and any building work; ask us for a free quote.

Do I need permission from my community of owners?

If you live in an apartment building, you have the legal right to install an individual charging point in your parking space. Since 2021, you only need to notify the community, not request permission.

What power supply do I need?

For a 7.4 kW home charger, you need at least 5.75 kW contracted power, though we recommend 6.9 kW or higher. We assess your installation and advise you.

Can you install a charger in a communal garage?

Yes, you can install either an individual charger at your parking space or a collective system for the whole building. We handle the entire process, including ITC-BT-52 documentation.

How long does installation take?

A standard installation is usually completed in 1-2 days. If it requires modifications to the consumer unit or long cable runs, it may take a bit longer.

Should I get a 7.4 kW or a 22 kW charger?

For home charging, 7.4 kW is almost always the right choice: it fully charges most cars overnight and works on a normal single-phase supply. 22 kW needs a three-phase supply and a car that accepts it, so it mainly makes sense for businesses or shared installations.

Can I charge my car from my solar panels?

Yes. A solar-compatible charger can use only the surplus energy your panels produce, so you top up the car with electricity you would otherwise export to the grid cheaply. We often install chargers alongside solar and battery systems.

What is load balancing and do I need it?

Load balancing (dynamic power management) lets the charger adjust its output in real time so your total demand never exceeds your contracted power and trips the main switch. It is very useful in homes with limited power or in shared communal supplies.

06 — Why charge at home

Why charge at home?

Charge conveniently overnight in your own space, with no detour to a public point

Home charging is far cheaper than public charging, especially in off-peak hours

A charging point adds value to your home or parking space
